Last year, PERMA handled more than 300 claims related to slips and falls on snow or ice, with costs exceeding $2 million. To help members take action on this leading cause of injury, we are launching a new grant that supports on-site prevention where winter hazards are most likely to occur.

The grant features IceAlert temperature-sensitive warning signs, a visible tool designed to alert staff and visitors when temperatures approach freezing. These signs can be installed near building entrances, exits, walkways, garages, and parking areas to provide an added layer of awareness during winter conditions.

Through our new vendor partnership, PERMA is now offering members the opportunity to apply for a grant package that includes over $1,000 in IceAlert signage to help reduce costly winter slip-and-fall injuries. This grant is intended to help members strengthen prevention efforts before incidents happen. If slips and falls on snow or ice are a concern at your locations, this is a practical opportunity to add a simple, maintenance-free visual warning system in high-risk areas.

How the IceAlert Signs Work

As temperatures drop, the signs provide a clear visual warning of potential icy conditions. They are well suited for parking areas, garage facilities, walkways, and building entry and exit points where winter slip hazards are common.

Our goal is to provide members with over $100,000 towards the initiative. If you have any questions regarding this program, please email risk@perma.org to contact our Risk Management Department.
