Our Mobile Safety Solutions Center is one initiative to address a leading workplace injury – slips, trips and falls. In the past five years, PERMA has paid nearly $50 million in claims from more than 4,400 slip-and-fall incidents involving employees from our more than 800 public employer members throughout New York. To target this injury, we coordinated with Inbiodyn to construct a state of the art Slip Simulator™ to travel across the State for onsite training with our members. This innovative training has been previously utilized to help employees at global companies such as UPS, Amazon and GE.

Studies by the Los Alamos National Lab have found this simulator training can result in up to a 70% reduction in slip-and-fall incidents, making this interactive, experiential training far more effective for participants than classroom training. We are excited to introduce this training at our Annual Member Conference by providing four separate demonstrations for members to participate or watch. This will include a dedicated session on the full effectiveness of this training based on kinesthetic learning. Workers who have learned walking techniques to improve their stability on slippery surfaces through this experiential training will be safer on the job, which benefits both the employee and the employer.
