SWANA, the Solid Waste Association of North America, has recently announced its selection for the 2025-2026 Safety Committee. Following a competitive national application process, Ed Starowicz, our Public Works Risk Management Specialist, was appointed to serve as a committee member.
The SWANA Safety Committee guides SWANA’s safety programs, resources, and initiatives through close collaboration with SWANA staff and Safety Ambassadors. Committee members represent organizations from across North America, working collectively to advance SWANA’s safety agenda.
Ed has over 23 years of experience in Public Works and nine years facilitating risk management programs. His credentials include certifications and licenses in Landfill Operations, Hazardous Waste Operations & Emergency Response (HAZWOPER), and 30-hour OSHA training. He also is a Six Sigma-certified Quality Improvement Facilitator. Currently, Ed handles the Public Works Risk Management program for our 800 members throughout New York.
From the selected Safety Committee members, Ed is the only representative from New York. We are proud that our organization will have a voice in fostering a culture of safety across the solid waste and resource management industry. Congratulations on this national recognition!
